The contrast between 1968 and 2020 couldn’t be more striking. They were smart. We are idiots. Or at least our governments are.https://www.aier.org/article/woodstock-occurred-in-the-middle-of-a-pandemic
I can only recommend the entire short article. Those of us born in the late 60s remember what was left of things through the 70s, but only as small kids just beginning to form our thoughts. That is, during the time that reactionary forces strengthened beyond anyone’s ability to comprehend what awaited.
Looking back now from 2020, and forward to God only knows what awaits us next, we see something very simple indeed: we live in a reactionary age. Orwell saw it early:
If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face – forever.George Orwell
What Orwell perhaps did not anticipate — well, no, he did; it is those of us who read Orwell who failed to anticipate — that it is we ourselves who will stand by and cheer the boot stamping on the human face forever, as it stamps on everyone’s face, and even our own, yours, mine, still you cheer it, clapping, breathlessly believing something, though you long ago lost the ability to know anything.
By the time we had come of age into awareness, 1980 happened. Our era began. Well it began earlier but was clarified then, articulated. What Americans remain unequipped to grasp is that it marked the beginning of our era, an uninterrupted continuous era: the Reagan-Bush-Clinton-Bush-Obama-Trump era.
Americans still cling, not to their guns and religion, but to their blind faith that Reagan-Bush-Clinton-Bush-Obama-Trump somehow isn’t an overwhelming triumph of antidisestablishmentarianism, that the era isn’t a single continuum of the reactionary boot stamping on our faces, isn’t an era fronted by a parade of puppet personas for our consumption and devotion. Devotion it is, to cult of personality, a cult founded on the unfounded: a belief in a fantasy lacking any evidence in support of it: that Reagan-Bush-Clinton-Bush-Obama-Trump isn’t a monolothic boot crushing our faces, but instead is a pendulum swinging from the reactionary (Reagan, Bush and Trump) to the progressive (Clinton and Obama).
The herd has no immunity to crushing fascism, to monolithic fascism. The herd doesn’t even recognize the possibility of such disease. Which leads today to the most dismal of regressions.
Compare again the attitudes of the 1960s to the prevailing attitudes today. From the article Woodstock Occurred in the Middle of a Pandemic:
By way of personal recollection, my own mother and father were part of a generation that believed they had developed sophisticated views of viruses. They understood that less vulnerable people getting them not only strengthened immune systems but contributed to disease mitigation by reaching “herd immunity.” They had a whole protocol to make a child feel better about being sick. I got a “sick toy,” unlimited ice cream, Vicks rub on my chest, a humidifier in my room, and so on.
They would constantly congratulate me on building immunity. They did their very best to be happy about my viruses, while doing their best to get me through them.
If we used government lockdowns then like we use them now, Woodstock (which changed music forever and still resonates today) would never have occurred. How much prosperity, culture, tech, etc. are losing in this calamity?
What happened between then and now? Was there some kind of lost knowledge, as happened with scurvy, when we once had sophistication and then the knowledge was lost and had to be re-found? For COVID-19, we reverted to medieval-style understandings and policies, even in the 21st century. It’s all very strange.
The contrast between 1968 and 2020 couldn’t be more striking. They were smart. We are idiots. Or at least our governments are.https://www.aier.org/article/woodstock-occurred-in-the-middle-of-a-pandemic/
Contrast with the ideas consumed by today’s New York Times readers and CNN watchers:
“Herd immunity” is not a real thing; is “junk science” promoted by political lunatics, like Boris Johnson and Donald Trump, who would throw the elderly into volcanoes as sacrifice to the gods of the economy, who prefer capitalist profit to human life.the modern American liberal
Facing such “ideas” stands reality as it is, the biological natural world which formerly was far better understood. Today we regress to a dark age of superstition and idiocy while proclaiming our “belief” in “the science”. As if science is something you “believe in”. Our ideas, our words, our science, our beliefs today are distorted, incoherent, disconnected from the world, blind.
We live in a world of viruses (trillions of them in us) and a world of mortality. We are not immortal. We are not angels. We live and die. Bodies injured and aged lose their ability to stand in the world, are unable to resist viruses and bacteria. As we are dying, viruses come and the body gives up resisting them, and they carry us away. It is the way of life.
Instead of recognizing this rationally, scientifically, and spiritually, with maturity and grace, we are possessed now by irrationality. We succumb to a political transformation of the Global War on (OF) Terror to the new Global War on Death, flinging at demons (the villain virus!), as we cling to unsupportable and evidence-free beliefs that “our guy”, “our team”, our political persona, our preferred object in our political cult of personality, is going to resolve any of this in any way other than one boot or another boot stomping on our face forever. Two parties we believe different, but no matter our beliefs, two parties of identical ideology and policy: everything for billionaires, and for everyone else: the D boot or the R boot jumping up and down on our face.
But we cheer for this, praying to see “OUR BOOT” (Democrat or Republican) crushing all of our faces.
Today can be seen the most unbelievable of irrational beliefs verbalized:
I need to be locked up in my house and so do you, ’cause Trump says we should go out. Fuck Trump! I’m gonna drop dead in this chair in my bedroom!’20’s American democratic party voter
There no longer is any unimaginable extreme. If Trump said, “I think pooping in your hand and eating it is, uh, no good”, many millions of Americans would start eating shit.
Still we remember former times when common understanding better matched reality. Herd immunity IS life, nature, the world, being, existence. It’s not optional. Even the most extreme vaccine proponents (those who evangelize vaccine as industrial scale profit generator) also recognize that vaccine itself is premised on it, premised on herd immunity.
The use of the word “herd” in this phrase, incidentally, is not accidental. Note the relation of words including vaca (cow), vaccine, herd immunity, in the history of vaccination, Edward Jenner, cowpox, and smallpox: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1200696/
Contrary to the irrational beliefs of the modern American liberal, herd immunity is not optional, ever. Nor is it interruptible, nor should it be retarded, nor replaced pharmacologically. The belief that it should be is insane beyond measure. There are no words for describing, no adjectives that can be calibrated to match, ideas that insane.
Yet we are ruled by such ideas today, and locked up under house arrest by those who dominate, dominate us, those who champion the irrational and conduct life annihilation for profit. Such monsters today are worshipped by the devoted who consider them gods.
Meet the new God.

Bill Gates makes the saying inadequate. We need new words. All the evidence I need is here:
Did Bill Gates Just Reveal the Reason Behind the Lock-Downs? (article from Off-Guardian)
An interview with Bill Gates:
“Then at 32:50 in the video, Anderson asked whether the blood serum from people who have recovered from a COVID infection can be used to treat others.
“I heard you mention that one possibility might be treatments from the serum, the blood serum of people who had had the disease and then recovered. So I guess they’re carrying antibodies,” said Anderson. “Talk a bit about that and how that could work and what it would take to accelerate that.”
[Note that Anderson did not ask Gates about, instead, just letting most of the population – aside from people most vulnerable to serious illness from the infection, who should be quarantined — be exposed to COVID-19 and as a result very likely recover and develop life-long immunity. As at least one expert has observed, “as much as ninety-nine percent of active cases [of COVID-19] in the general population are ‘mild’ and do not require specific medical treatment” to recover.]
“This has always been discussed as, ‘How could you pull that off?’” replied Gates. “So people who are recovered, it appears, have very effective antibodies in their blood. So you could go, transfuse them and only take out white cells, the immune cells.”
However, Gates continued, he and his colleagues have dismissed that possibility because it’s “fairly complicated – compared to a drug we can make in high volume, you know, the cost of taking it out and putting it back in probably doesn’t scale as well.”
Then a few seconds later, at 33:45, Gates drops another bomb:
We don’t want to have a lot of recovered people […] To be clear, we’re trying – through the shut-down in the United States – to not get to one percent of the population infected. We’re well below that today, but with exponentiation, you could get past that three million [people or approximately one percent of the U.S. population being infected with COVID-19 and the vast majority recovering]. I believe we will be able to avoid that with having this economic pain.”
It appears that rather than let the population be exposed to the virus and most develop antibodies that give them natural, long-lasting immunity to COVID-19, Gates and his colleagues far prefer to create a vast, hugely expensive, new system of manufacturing and selling billions of test kits, and in parallel very quickly developing and selling billions of antivirals and vaccines.
And then, when the virus comes back again a few months later and most of the population is unexposed and therefore vulnerable, selling billions more test kits and medical interventions.
Right after that, at 34:14, Gates talked about how he sees things rolling out from there.
Eventually what we’ll have to have is certificates of who’s a recovered person, who’s a vaccinated person […] Because you don’t want people moving around the world where you’ll have some countries that won’t have it under control, sadly. You don’t want to completely block off the ability for people to go there and come back and move around. So eventually there will be this digital immunity proof that will help facilitate the global reopening up.”
[Sometime on the afternoon of March 31 the last sentence of this quote was edited out of the official TED video of the interview. Fortunately, recordings of the complete interview are archived elsewhere.]”
“Notably, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation – which has an endowment of $52 billion – has given more than $2.4 billion to the World Health Organization (WHO) since 2000, according to a 2017 Politico article. (While over the same time frame countries have reduced their contributions to the world body, particularly after the 2008-2009 depression, and now account for less than one-quarter of the WHO’s budget.) The WHO is now coordinating approximately 50 groups around the world that are working on candidate vaccines against COVID-19.
The Politico article quotes a Geneva-based NGO representative as saying Gates is “treated liked a head of state, not only at the WHO, but also at the G20,” and that Gates is one of the most influential people in global health.”https://off-guardian.org/2020/04/04/did-bill-gates-just-reveal-the-reason-behind-the-lock-downs/
Does the American liberal of the ’20s challenge any of this? On the contrary. He supports it, believes it humanitarian. A common example, I lift a quote from Facebook regarding the Judy Mikovits interview “Plandemic”:
There are multiple sources that critique both the arguments made in this film and the credibility of Mikovits. People will, of course, decide for themselves, but here are links to a few articles that offer a different perspective on the film, the filmmaker, and Mikovits: (6 articles then posted denouncing Mikovits)’20’s American democratic party voter
6 articles denouncing a flawed person. How many articles scrutinizing Fauci, Gates, Ferguson…? How many articles denouncing the forthcoming imminent END of the University of Kentucky? How many articles denouncing the END of work? How many articles denouncing the firing of doctors and nurses all over Lexington? How many articles scrutinizing the track record of the WHO? How many articles denouncing big Pharma regulatory and policy capture? How many articles denouncing putting the entire population under house arrest and the stepped roll out of a dystopic digital surveillance regime? How many articles denouncing distortion of death statistics, fear mongering death itself?
But six articles denouncing a single individual?
I’d honestly like to know who gives a shit. Who gives a shit?
Come down off your throne and leave your body alone
Somebody must change
You are the reason I’ve been waiting so long
Somebody holds the key
Well, I’m near the end and I just ain’t got the time
And I’m wasted and I can’t find my way home
Come down on your own and leave your body alone
Somebody must change
You are the reason I’ve been waiting all these years
Somebody holds the key
Well, I’m near the end and I just ain’t got the time
And I’m wasted and I can’t find my way home
And I ain’t done nothing wrong,
But I can’t find my way home.Blind Faith 1969
